Employee Work From Home Policy
Employee working from home too much?
We have a policy at work that we are allowed 4 sick days a year. We also allow our employees – to an extent – to work from home if they aren’t well.
However, I think one of my employees is abusing this privilege. He takes 1 -3 days a month to work from home , just on the basis that he just isn’t feeling well.
Obviously there were some days he really was pretty sick but it’s these “Oh i just don’t feel so well” days a few times a month that is adding up.
He works on the support desk so he can do his job at home but we have to cover for him when phone support comes in.
How should I address this with him?
you could tell him that if he’s going to keep working from home, he’s going to have to make his mobile phone number available for customers to ring him at home so he can deal with their problems direct, then if he’s using the days to sneak off out and enjoy himself, he’ll have to re-think his leisure time!
